Are you ready for Ramadan, y’all? It’s the month where we come together as a community and break our fast with delicious food. I’ve got some amazing Ramadan recipes for iftar (the meal that breaks our fast) that will make your bellies happy!

Recipe 1: Sweet and Savory Samosas

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 package samosa sheets
  • Oil for frying
  • Parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, heat oil and cook onions until they are translucent.
  2. Add in ground beef and spices, cook until beef is browned.
  3. Cut samosa sheets in half and make a cone shape, stuff with beef mixture and seal the edges with water.
  4. Fry samosas in hot oil until golden brown.
  5. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

  • 1 pound boneless chicken, cut into cubes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 3 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Skewers

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients except chicken.
  2. Add chicken and let it marinate for at least an hour.
  3. Thread chicken onto skewers.
  4. Grill or bake until chicken is fully cooked.

  • 1 liter whole milk
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Chopped nuts and raisins for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Rinse rice and soak for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pot, bring milk to a boil, then reduce heat and add rice.
  3. Simmer until rice is fully cooked, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add sugar and cardamom powder, and cook for 5 more minutes.
  5. Garnish with chopped nuts and raisins, and serve hot or chilled.
