Oh damn, y’all have got to try this crispy Korean seafood pancake, known as Haemul Pajeon. Trust me, it’s a game changer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 6 oz mixed seafood (shrimp, squid, etc.)
  • 1 scallion
  • Vegetable oil for frying

First, whisk together the flour, water, eggs, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper until it forms a smooth batter. Add the seafood and scallion and stir until evenly distributed.

Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom. Pour in the pancake batter and spread it out evenly to cover the entire skillet. Cook for about 3 minutes, then carefully flip the pancake and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until both sides are golden brown and crispy.

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, water, eggs, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper until a smooth batter forms.
  2. Add the mixed seafood and scallion to the batter and stir until evenly distributed.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom.
  4. Pour the batter into the skillet and spread it out evenly to cover the entire skillet.
  5. Cook for approximately 3 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Carefully flip the pancake and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce (we recommend soy sauce or a spicy mayo).
