  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. Heat up a skillet and add in the vegetable oil, then brown the chicken on both sides until the skin is crispy and golden brown. Set aside.
  2. Add more oil if needed, then sauté the garlic until fragrant and browned but not burnt.
  3. Add the brown sugar, stir and cook until caramelized.
  4. Add the soy sauce, vinegar, bay leaf, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer, then let chicken cook until it absorbs the flavors and the sauce thickens, about 25-30 minutes on medium-low heat. Serve hot.
