Apple Pie Recipe
This apple pie recipe is a classic and always a crowd pleaser. Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 double pie crust recipe
- 6 cups thinly sliced Granny Smith apples
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 tbsp milk
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, mix together apples, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the apple mixture and stir until apples are tender and coated in the mixture.
- In a small bowl, mix together flour and 2 tablespoons of the excess juice from the apple mixture. Add to apple mixture and stir until mixture thickens.
- Roll out one portion of the pie dough and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour apple mixture into the crust.
- Roll out the remaining pie dough and cut into strips. Place strips on top of pie and brush with egg and milk mixture.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
- Let cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
Unfussy Apple Cake Recipe
If you want a yummy apple dessert that’s quick and easy, then this apple cake recipe is for you. Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, oil, egg, and vanilla.
- Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture and stir until just combined.
- Stir in the apples and walnuts (if using).
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
