This apple pie recipe is a classic and always a crowd pleaser. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 double pie crust recipe
  • 6 cups thinly sliced Granny Smith apples
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together apples, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the apple mixture and stir until apples are tender and coated in the mixture.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together flour and 2 tablespoons of the excess juice from the apple mixture. Add to apple mixture and stir until mixture thickens.
  5. Roll out one portion of the pie dough and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour apple mixture into the crust.
  6. Roll out the remaining pie dough and cut into strips. Place strips on top of pie and brush with egg and milk mixture.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  8. Let cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
