Ramadan is here and it is time to indulge in the traditional Moroccan delicacies that are part and parcel of this holy month. One such recipe that has always been my favourite is stuffed dates. These little treats are a perfect blend of sweetness and crunchiness that tantalizes your taste buds. Today, I am going to share with you my special recipe for stuffed dates that is sure to leave everyone asking for more.
To start with, here is what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
-1 cup walnuts, chopped
-1/2 cup almonds, chopped
-1/2 cup shredded sweetened coconut
-1/4 cup honey
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1/4 tsp ginger
-1/4 tsp nutmeg
-1/4 tsp cardamom
-2 tbsp orange zest
-2 tbsp orange juice
-1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
-1 lb. Medjool dates, pitted
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2. In a bowl, mix together the walnuts, almonds, coconut, honey, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, orange zest, orange juice, and butter until well combined.
3. Fill each date with 1-2 teaspoons of the nut mixture and press it firmly with your fingers.
4. Arrange the stuffed dates on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dates are golden brown and the filling is toasted.
6. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely.
7. Serve them on a platter and watch them disappear in no time!
