Instructions:

2. Peel and slice the apples and place them in a large mixing bowl.

3. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and salt to the bowl with the sliced apples. Mix well.

4. Roll out one of the pie crusts and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Cut off any excess crust with a sharp knife.

5. Add the apple mixture to the pie dish, and distribute it evenly.

6. Cut the butter into small pieces and distribute them over the apple mixture.

7. Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture. Cut off any excess crust and seal the edges.

8. Brush the beaten egg yolk over the top of the pie crust. Sprinkle turbinado sugar on top (optional).
