Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs or drumsticks

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a skillet and brown the chicken pieces.
  2. In the slow cooker, mix together the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, onion, bay leaf, and black peppercorns.
  3. Add the browned chicken to the slow cooker and toss to coat with the sauce.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  5. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it with a fork. Discard the bay leaf.
  6. Transfer the sauce to a saucepan and cook on high heat until it thickens.
  7. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and pour the thickened sauce over it. Toss to coat.

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a skillet and brown the chicken pieces.
  2. In a separate pot, combine the soy sauce, white vinegar, water, brown sugar, garlic, onion, bay leaf, and black peppercorns. Bring to a boil.
