  • 1-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 6 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
  • Sugar-free whipped topping, optional


  1. In a bowl, combine the flour and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water, tossing with a fork until a ball forms. Roll out pastry to fit a 9-in. pie plate. Transfer pastry to pie plate. Trim to 1/2 in. beyond edge of plate; flute edge. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water until smooth; stir in concentrate, lemon juice, nutmeg and remaining cold water until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in apples. Pour into crust.
