Ingredients:

  • 2 pie crusts
  • 8 cups thinly sliced, peeled and cored apples
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Roll out the bottom crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg. Toss together until the ingredients are evenly mixed.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie dish and spread it out evenly. Cut the butter into small pieces and scatter them over the top of the apples.
  5. Roll out the top crust and place it over the apples. Trim off any excess crust and crimp the edges together to seal the pie. Use a sharp knife to cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  6. Bake the pie for 45-55 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. If the edges of the crust start to brown too quickly, cover them with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
  7. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.

Y’all, I’m telling you, this apple pie is the bee’s knees. Thanksgiving is coming up real soon, and it’d make the perfect dessert for your family gathering. Or heck, you don’t even need a special occasion to enjoy this sweet treat. Go on and give it a try, and let me know what y’all think!
