Delicious Ramadan Appetizers for Your Iftar Spread

As we welcome the holy month of Ramadan, the month of blessings, it’s time to start planning our iftar menus with mouth-watering dishes. One of the essential parts of the iftar spread is appetizers, and nothing beats a plate of delicious fried snacks to break your fast. Here are some of our favorite Ramadan appetizers that are sure to leave your taste buds satisfied!

1. Dahi Bhalla

Dahi Bhalla

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 1 cup moong dal
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Soak the urad dal and moong dal overnight.
  2. Drain the water and grind the dals to a smooth batter.
  3. Add salt to the batter and mix well.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan and drop small balls of the batter in the oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown and remove from the oil.
  6. Soak the fried balls in water for 30 minutes.
  7. Squeeze out the water from the balls and arrange them on a plate.
  8. Whisk the curd with cumin seeds, black salt, and red chili powder.
  9. Pour the curd over the balls and sprinkle some more spices on top.

Chicken Pakora

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup gram flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Mix the gram flour and spices in a bowl.
  2. Add water to the bowl to form a thick batter.
  3. Dip the chicken pieces in the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the chicken pieces until golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Water, as required
  • 3 potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1/2 cup carrots, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Mix the flour, oil, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add water to the bowl to form a smooth dough.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin and coriander seeds.
  5. Add the onions, peas, and carrots and cook until tender.
  6. Add the mashed potatoes and spices to the pan and mix well.
  7. Roll out the dough and cut it into small circles.
  8. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of the circle.
  9. Fold the circle in half and seal the edges with water.
  10. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the samosas until golden brown.
